The RIE and Pikler inspired approach
Littlemore Early School is deeply influenced by the work of Magda Gerber and the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers), as well as the Pikler approach to early years education and care. Magda Gerber, who was mentored by Hungarian paediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler, emphasized the significance of respectful care practices, consistently demonstrating respect in every interaction with children.
Our approach to education revolves around viewing children as trusted and capable participants in their own learning and care, fostering trusted and respectful relationships with our educators and teachers.
We believe in slowing down, tuning in, and being fully present in every interaction. Care routines, like nappy changes, bottle feeds, and mealtimes, are never rushed. they’re valued as rich opportunities for connection, learning, and building trust.
We strongly believe in upholding the rights of our children and establishing respectful relationships as the foundation of our work.
As Educaring®-inspired educators, we embrace these principles:
Children are trusted as capable initiators and self-learners.
Care routines are unhurried and collaborative, with children actively involved.
Safe, calm, and emotionally nurturing environments support wellbeing.
Uninterrupted play is protected as essential for learning and discovery.
Sensitive observation guides how we support each child.
Consistency and clear expectations foster security and connection
Respectful caregiving is not just about what we do, but how we do it: with intention, empathy, presence, and deep respect for each child as a unique individual. At Littlemore, our Educaring-inspired practices create a calm, nurturing environment where children feel secure, confident, capable, and connected to those around them.
“
Together, these approaches shape a curriculum that is responsive, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in relationships. At Littlemore Early School, we are proud to offer a meaningful and holistic learning experience where every child’s growth is nurtured, and every family feels part of a flourishing community.
