A little more nourishment of mind and body
At Littlemore Early School, we know that nourishing the body is just as important as nurturing the mind. As educators and parents ourselves, we recognise the powerful role that healthy, nutritious eating plays in supporting a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
That’s why our approach to food is thoughtful, intentional, and embedded in our everyday rhythm. Our meals are lovingly prepared fresh each day in Chefs’s Corner, our purpose-built, on-site commercial kitchen, by a highly skilled culinary team led by our dedicated Kitchen Manager. Our rotating seasonal menu is carefully designed to be wholesome, balanced, and delicious, and we cater to all dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences with care.
Mealtimes at Littlemore are more than routines, they are meaningful rituals. Children share meals together, building social connections and developing a positive relationship with food. We use real cutlery and crockery, encouraging independence and refining fine motor skills in a respectful, homely setting that mirrors the world outside of childcare.
Our kitchen truly is the heart of our centre, designed to feel warm, welcoming, and full of life. Children are active participants in our food culture, regularly visiting Little Chef’s Corner, our interactive kitchen space designed just for them. Here, they engage in baking, contribute to food preparation, assist with mealtime routines, and explore cooking as a joyful, hands-on learning experience.
Just beyond our kitchen, the journey continues in our beautiful gardens. Children plant, care for, and harvest fresh ingredients from our vegetable beds and native bush tucker gardens. These real-life experiences deepen their understanding of where food comes from, encouraging mindful conversations about health, sustainability, and nutrition.
By weaving together nutrition, curiosity, and connection, we help children develop a lifelong love of food. At Littlemore, we believe that every little step, whether it’s stirring, tasting, planting, or sharing, nurtures not just the body, but the heart and mind too.
